Who knew?
Wow…that really doesn’t convey the extent of my amazement, but it’s hard to translate a victory dance into words. I’ve spent years writing and dreaming, and one morning I was listening to the radio, and a great song came on, one that I’ve listened to for years, and something in it triggered an idea for a book. So I started writing it, put aside all the other books I was in the middle of working on, and a month later had Eternity. Something about this book, out of all the others that I had written, made me decide to query publishers about it. I tried three. Got one rejection, haven’t heard from the other ( eight months later), and then I got this e-mail from an editor (who will forever have my gratitude and a shrine in my office to her) that was really excited about it. She didn’t offer me anything at that time, just some suggestions on how to make it better. Once I was done, she told me, resubmit it to her and she would take a look. Apparently she liked what she saw, because I am now going to be a published author! What an amazing feeling it is when your dreams come true!

What song was that? I’m always curious about how inspiration works… may have to blog on that one of these days!

It was “The Lighthouse’s Tale” by Nickle Creek. Little folksy-bluegrass-country song. I went through a country phase a couple of years ago, lol! A really great song about a love lost and pain (I know, depressing), and my strange mind took it to a different level…involving vampires, haha! Everyone that I talk to asks that same question: Where do you get your ideas? And it’s a really hard question to answer! Have you ever read Stephen King’s forwards in his books? He addresses that often.
